It's finally warmed up here, and tomato-growing season is heating up. We've spent this week enriching our soil. You may recall an earlier blog post that noted that our tomatoes died too soon in the season. Well, we've had one donation of compost and a composter. We have a new emphasis on composting at Trinity, starting with coffee hour. Our most faithful coffee-hour hostess has even brought her vegetable peelings and egg shells from home to add to our compost pile.
With some of the balance of our grant from the Stillman Association of Churches, we bought and tilled in 400 pounds of cow manure! It sounds like a lot, but it worked out to about a half-inch dressing on the entire plot.
The tomatoes will also go in soon. Watch this space!
PS: The title of this post is from II Corinthians 9:11. Read about the wonderful effects of generosity here.
